Bernardo Murillo

Director

Bernardo Murillo attended Santa Clara University where he received a Bacherlor’s in Accounting. His 16 years of corporate and individual tax consulting experience has spanned across Big 4 firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), to owning his tax practice, Left Coast Tax Services, which he owned the past 6 years before merging into Bay Landing Tax. Bernardo enjoys the relationships he’s developed over the years with his clients on a personal level, which has allowed him to be seen as a trusted advisor to them in these sometimes murky seas. In his free time, his passion is to play roller hockey, which his family frowns upon due to its many risks, and softball. Bernardo is also a die-hard sports fan and enjoys catching a live game when the opportunity arises.

Eileen Gardiner

Principal

Eileen Gardiner has been preparing income tax returns since February of 1979 after completing a tax course at H & R Block and working for them during her first tax season. Over the many years since that beginning she has acquired her Enrolled Agent’s License, her Certified Public Accountant’s License, and a Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Most of her working career has been spent at Hampton & Churchward Accountancy Corporation. Together with Joe Churchward and a wonderful staff they have grown that firm and developed a strong client base. She looks forward to this merger with Bay Landing Tax & Consulting. She will still contribute by assisting with client and staff needs and sharing her years of experience and knowledge.

Joseph Churchward

Principal

Joe graduated from Cal-State University East Bay with a BS degree in Kinesiology. He attended St. Mary’s University and obtained a teaching credential. He eventually returned to Cal-State East Bay to obtain a minor in accounting and his CPA license. During this time, he became a principal with Hampton & Churchward in 1990. Joe has been preparing personal, corporation, fiduciary and estate returns since 1982. He places a strong emphasis on client relations and looks forward to using his experience to contribute to the Bay Landing team.

Suman Sharma

Tax Manager

Suman has been in public accounting since 2012. Her emphasis has been on creating value and delivering quality results to clients on tax strategies and Multi-State Tax Preparations for high net worth Individuals & Families, Corporations and Partnership. She holds bachelor’s degree with major in “Accounting” and “Chartered Accountancy” degree from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She enjoys travelling, singing, volunteering with some NGOs and last but not the least spending time with her cute little Chihuahua “Auggie”.

Marilyn Meneses

Senior Tax Advisor

Marilyn Meneses graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila. Since 1987, Marilyn has served the East Bay community with Hampton & Churchward, a family owned accounting firm. She has experience doing bookkeeping for small businesses, as well as corporation and partnership tax returns. She is also a local resident of Alameda, raising her family here and establishing firm roots on the island. In her spare time Marilyn enjoys being with family the most, watching movies, and bowling.

Kevin Williams

Tax Advisor

Kevin Williams attended San Jose State University and received degrees in business and accounting. Kevin has 10 years of tax and business consulting experience, which includes 6 years as the finance manager with a defense engineering firm. Before that, he was an account manager in the small business division of Comerica bank for 10 years. Kevin also studied at the Conservatory of Music in San Francisco and is an accomplished musician who enjoys teaching whenever possible.

Alona Marshall

Office Manager

Alona is an accounting professional with 4 years of experience processing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, payroll, and account reconciliations. She also has five years of experience with office administration and the last year as an office manager. Her range of software includes QuickBooks, Pay Focus Pro, Benefit Mall, GEMS accounting, Fresh Books, Lacerte and Microsoft Office. Alona has worked in the Real Estate and food service franchise industries. Alona has an Associate’s degree in Computer Education from Southern Leyte State University Philippines.

Patrick Sangiacomo

Principal

Pat is proud to be a second-generation San Franciscan. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1980 with a degree in accounting and took his first public accounting job in Eugene, Oregon with a very large local firm. Returning to Bay area in 1982, he married and settled in Pleasanton and raised three children. Pat became a certified public accountant in 1983. He began working with a local San Leandro CPA firm where he became partner in 1989. In 1993, he formed a new firm, Chinn/Sangiacomo. When his partner retired in 2012 the firm became Sangiacomo Group, AC. He specializes in tax and accounting services with small to mid-sized businesses, primarily in construction. manufacturing and professional services and commercial insurance brokers. Pat enjoys spending time with his adult children and new granddaughter. He enjoys fishing and believes there is nothing better than catching and releasing a fish larger than himself. Panama and Alaska are his favorite locations to visit.

Brian Leung

Senior Tax Manager

Brian is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in California and received both his Bachelor’s in Agricultural Business and Master’s in Taxation from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Prior to joining Bay Landing, he spent seven years as a public accountant providing tax planning and compliance services at PwC and Armanino. He has experience working with C Corps, pass-through entities, and individuals and enjoys the multitude of different tax scenarios that each client brings. Outside of the office, Brian is an avid sports fan, enjoys traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Neha Pabla

Tax Manager

Neha is a CPA with over 5 years of tax and accounting experience in the public sector. She graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. She is currently working towards obtaining her Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. Her areas of expertise include passthrough entities and Individuals. She values client relationships and enjoys learning about their financial backgrounds as well as discussing current and future financial goals. When she is not in the office, she enjoys traveling, renovating, working on DIY projects, and spending time with family.

Cindy Silvia

Senior Tax Advisor

Cindy has been an Enrolled Agent since 1995. She graduated from California State University East Bay with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She has worked the last 15 years for Sangiacomo Group as an accountant. In her off time, she spends time at her husbands family property up north. She enjoys gardening, snow and water skiing and doing varies activities with her kids and husband.

Dominic Sangiacomo

Tax Advisor

Dominic "grew-up" in his father's boutique CPA firm where he developed a love and appreciation for small businesses. He attended Boise State University in Idaho where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in both Accounting and Finance. Since graduation, Dominic has over 5 years of experience working in the industry and enjoys assisting clients in all types of businesses. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, golfing, and spending time with his dogs.

Andrew Pearlstein

Tax Advisor

Andrew Pearlstein attended Boise State University in Boise Idaho where he received his Bachelors in Accounting and Finance and a Master’s in Accounting. Andrew has 3 years of tax and attestation experience with the Sangiacomo Group in San Leandro California. Andrew enjoys working closely with clients to help grow their business’. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and hiking with his dog, Linus.

Sharon Tamala

Senior Business Advisor

Sharon was born and raised in Hawaii. As a young adult in Hawaii she learned bookkeeping. Sharon moved to California (East Bay) and began working in a CPA Firm as a para-professional. With 44 years of experience in Public Accounting, Sharon truly enjoys the challenge of working on complicated accounting projects. In her free time she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.

Heidirenee Murray

Office Manager

Heidirenee is a seasoned Office Manager, working at the Sangiacomo Group the past 6 years but several fortune 500 and family owned businesses prior. She attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, graduating from the Paralegal Program, working several years in Criminal, as well as Trust/Estate law firms. She enjoys interacting with our clients, getting to know them and being able to assist them with their questions and concerns, easing the struggles of “tax-time”. In her free time, she enjoys going to the ocean or having get togethers with her family, friends and her dog Chloe.

Payal Shah

Director

Payal has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting. She has been helping closely held business, their owners, and individuals with tax compliance, tax planning, IRS notices, bookkeeping, and cash flow management . Her favorite thing is to help client with tax planning and understanding their unique business finance and tax needs. Her industry experience includes start-up companies, professional services, manufacturing, real estate, health care, multi-state filings and foreign tax issues. Prior to joining Bay Landing Tax & Consulting , she worked as tax manager at a various CPA firms like Hood and Strong, LLP and Wheeler Accountants, LLP where she was responsible for managing bookkeeping services, tax engagements and working closely with clients with complex tax issues. Payal is member of American Institute of CPAs, the California Society of CPAs and the Colorado Society of CPAs. She is a licensed CPA.

Robert H Avon

Principal

Rob joined Bay Landing Tax and Consulting as a principal after merging his sole proprietorship tax/accounting practice in November 2020. Rob has been a practicing CPA since 1981. He specializes in small business and individual taxation and enjoys the business/personal relationships that have been established over the years.

In his spare time, he enjoys time with his wife and family, including 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys his backyard and vacationing in Hawaii.

Holly Neesham

Business Advisor

Holly started working for Rob Avon in June of 1992 as an accounting clerk. Within a couple of years, Holly became the full-time accounting clerk and Office Manager here at Rob Avon. She is exceptional at running the day to day operations of the office while also taking time to build relationships with clients.

When away from the office, Holly enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including her four grandsons.

Shehla Syed

Business Advisor

Shehla is a licensed CPA and a Quickbooks Online Advanced ProAdvisor. She has over 10 years of experience working as an accounting consultant and analyst providing customized solutions to small businesses and non-profit organizations. She has worked with clients and their auditors in helping them plan and maintain robust accounting systems to achieve accurate and transparent reporting for decision making and compliance. Shehla also has expertise in implementing accounting processes and procedures with proper oversight as well as staff-training for bookkeeping. Her experience includes financial analysis, budgeting & forecasting and ad hoc reporting to help business owners and managers make informed financial decisions. Shehla has worked at CPA firms helping small business owners with their accounting and compliance needs.

In her free time Shehla enjoys tending to her vegetable garden and watching anime with her kids.

Mikalah Kendall

Office Manager

Mikalah is an experienced customer service professional with over 5 years of experience in retail, operations, and office management. She has honed her skills in managing day-to-day operations and leading support staff in collegiate environments and most recently the financial service industry. Although she is new to the world of tax services, she is dedicated to learning and growing her skills to best serve our clients’ needs. Mikalah is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Communication. When she’s not working, Mikalah enjoys spending time with her friends and family, writing poems and short stories that somehow turn into novels, and binge watching new shows.
